If you wake up with a dream, you'll end up lonely

I need to dip into my photography again. After going on a walk around my neighbourhood for over an hour, I determined at least ten subjects I could photograph. I don't think I've picked up my camera in... well, a long time. I have nothing else to write about. Here's a picture I took last easter of my cousin. I could just post this picture without words and the post would be perfect. How delightful is she?

Off to do fashion homework now.

why is being nude so frowned upon?

As promised, here is the coat from Old Navy. Perfect, right? The shirt is one of the freebies I collected from the Virgin Festival. I think this is the first time I'm glad a shirt is a bit oversized, because then it can fall over my shoulder to reveal the word naked on a horizontal angle as opposed to 45 degrees (don't think I forgot my math)

I just found out I'm going to Montreal for this coming march break. If anyone could tell me some good places to shop, I will be ever so grateful.

PS. This song is currently my obsession (no, it isn't Radiohead)

I went shopping today at H&M for the first time in quite a while. I don't know why I haven't managed to get down there in so long, but it was worth it. I bought a sailor cardigan and a plain grey sweater (for warmth). I went into Old Navy while I was there and bought the most perfect coat in the history of its stores existence. They are sure to be posted here soon. My camera still hasn't returned home, poor thing. Must be frightened in such an unfamiliar atmosphere.

I would post pictures but my whole day has been devoted to philosophy. Watching Good Will Hunting, reading George Monbiot's "Heat" (all about global warming, I've heard good things. so far so good) and studying for a Philosophy unit test I have tomorrow.

Philosophy is taking over my life. Not that I'm complaining.

pink and purple dresses

Luella Spring 2009. A Marchesa wedding dress, and now I have officially decided on bridesmaid dresses for my wedding. Now if only I could find a groom...

too perfect for words

Wow. Marchesa's dresses from NY Fashion week. I am speechless.

silence is perfect

My power went out tonight. I felt as if I was blind, reaching out for things to realize where I was. I could open and close my eyes and there would be no difference.

Everything was silent. The rain tapping on the window, inviting me outside. I went for a walk, and I arrived home, rain water soaking the dryness out of my clothing. I read by candlelight, and when I craved darkness I simply exhaled. Now the electricity has returned, as has the sound of televisions echoing, reverberating off the walls and swimming in the air into the byzantine conduit and into my brain.

Tired of reading, I decided to film the candle in negative light to Thom Yorke's "A Rat's Nest". Haunting, but I like it.

Now I'm watching Romeo + Juliet. I love how it is set in modern day but uses the beautiful Shakespearean language that ceases to exist in today's conversations. How I wish it did. It is so completely lovely. On a side note, Leonardo DiCaprio is perfect. Even mid-murderous rage.

"And when I shall die, take him and cut him up in little stars, and he will make the face of heaven so fine that all the world will fall in love with night and pay no worship to the garish sun."

pixels wixels

Hi again. I feel like I'm on a roll! Down a hill or up? Nevertheless.....

My glasses will beat the shit out of yours any day. (Ok, I'm sorry I'm being a bit harsh, but I love them! If they were a person I would marry them in a heartbeat. Maybe in a Spring 2009 Betsey Johnson dress... oh heeeavennn) PS. I miss my camera... a lot. Oh where art thou? This Mac isn't doing these pictures any pixelated justice.

the sad thing is i've had my macbook for 3 months now

So I just realized that I could use my new Macbook for taking pictures of outfits instead of waiting for my camera to reach it's way back home. I've been eager to show you this dress, a find in my mother's closet (the back of her closet, might I add. Honestly, Mom?). It has lace trimming over the front and then loosely drapes to the end at the knees. Perfect for my last ever winter formal, don't you think? All thats missing is red lipstick (the perfect addition to any white or black outfit. Actually, any outfit at all.)

ps. Do yourself a favour and download Moondog's "Bird's Lament". It is heaven.

girl you'll be a woman soon

There should be more teenage girls like Emma Watson walking down these "red carpets" or whatever anyone calls them these days. I am quite sick of seeing Miley Cyrus or any of those other 16 and 17 year olds not taking any chances. Your in the limelight. Stop being so tame and give a little bit of eccentricity a fucking shot. (PS. CHANELLLLL ILU)

"typical canadian girls..."

Drinking in abandoned food courts. Promoting energy drinks on live television inebriated. Friends with just about every person we walked by. Chasing MGMT in golf carts then awkwardly meeting them a half hour later ("Sorry about that..."). Being physically abused by security, then sharing alcohol with their fellow security guards. Dancing like Thom Yorke to MGMT and Bloc Party. Riding golf carts with employees. Kissing and hugging. Passing out of exhaustion to Foo Fighters.

This is Virgin Festival.

я люблю россия

I've been thinking a lot about Russia and everything that has to do with it recently. My love for Alexander McQueen and court gowns and Russian history, specifically the fall of the Romanov family, contributes to that immensely. If I ever earn enough money to buy anything from a ready to wear collection it would surely be each and every piece from McQueen's Fall 2008 RTW. Can we all just say a little prayer and thank god that Alexander McQueen was born? How I didn't post the entire collection here is beyond my capacity to comprehend. Every single piece is sheer genius, and there is no other way to put it.

PS. I am going to the Toronto Virgin Festival in a couple of days. I anticipate this every year, so pictures will surely be up soon. Something I have been lacking.

Mary Ellen Mark.

Her pictures are of underlying truth, the existence we cease to accept. Her pictures don't tarnish reality, but in fact show it to us right in front of our eyes. Her pictures are heartbreaking and captivating... you can't seem to look away, but it is in that instance of the person's inability to turn away that we realize what life and our world truly is.
